The Hidden Life of Trees
"The Hidden Life of Trees" is a well worth reading item of non-fiction written by a German forester with decades of experience in working with nature. The book shows almost every aspect of the secret life of trees. It contains lots of curiosities, research results, but also well-known facts, shown from a different perspective. It's incredible how much we can learn about those inhabitants of the forest...
A big plus is the simple language used by the author who writes about the forest's ecosystem in a very interesting way, clearly illustrating biological issues. Showing trees as 'social beings' and wondrous organisms, as complex as any animal, will make you never again look at them indifferently. After reading this book a walk in the forest will no longer be an ordinary walk, but 'taking a shower in oxygen' ;)
I wholeheartedly recommend "The Hidden Life of Trees", not only to nature lovers.

Gorzka miłość (Bitter love)
This is an amazing and very interesting book which talks about love, but also about the tormented history of Poland after the Second World War. It shows what the life of people living during the war and during the communist period and the martial law looked like. Through the memories of an elderly lady struggling with an inexorable war and difficult conditions we learn incredible, painful facts from the past. It's a story of several families connected with each other, whose fate was intertwined by a common drama and great love.
I began to read it to pass the time. It turned out to be a very good idea. I could not take my eyes off the book and I was still curious what would happen next. It's an engaging, interesting, exciting and informative book ideal for people of all ages. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
The novel entitled "The Hobbit, or There and Back Again" was written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a fantasy book. This book describes adventures of a little hobbit who goes on a trip with a few dwarves and a wizard Gandalf. Their destination is the Lonely Mountain. They have to get there to reclaim the treasure stolen by the dragon Smaug. During their trip they scramble through the dark forest of Mirkwood, fly on eagles and have many more dangerous but interesting adventures. They meet a variety of magical creatures like elves, trolls, goblins and dragons. The main character Bilbo Baggins – the hobbit who during this trip gets to know himself better - finds out that he is brave, creative, sensible, clever and faithful, and comes back home as an experienced guy. All of the characters of this novel deserve respect and recognition since they stimulate readers’ imagination perfectly.
I like this book for the unpredictable events. I highly recommend reading this book because it can take you to a very different and more interesting world.

Ruby Red
"Ruby Red" is the first book of the bestseller "Time Travel/Ruby Red" trilogy written by Kerstin Gier, published in 2009. The book tells the story of Gwen Sheperd and her time travelling.
One day the main character of the book, Gwen, discovers that it's not her cousin, as their grandmother thought, but she who has the family gift. The other person who also has the gene that is the family legacy is Gideon de Villiers - a cheeky, arrogant and drop-dead gorgeous boy with whom Gwen immediately falls in love. All the other time travellers are either dead or have escaped with the help of a chronograph (a time machine). Now Gwen nas to solve mysterious puzzles from the past and defeat the clever Count de Saint Germain...
Kerstin Gier wrote "Ruby Red" in a very accessible way. I think everyone can like this book. The characters are well built and their intentions are understandable. The plot is fantastic and engrossing from the very beginning until the end.
To sum up, "Ruby Red" is a beautiful story about adventures, discovering yourself, understanding others and family bonds. I can recommend it to everyone who likes adventures and fiction combined with a bit of romance.

The Maze Runner
Surprising and holding the tension to the very end, this is a book about a group of boys locked in a maze, who have no memories of their previous lives and are left there on their own. I generally knew what to expect because I had already seen the movie based on the book, however, I couldn't tear myself from the pages! Contrary to what I had thought I found a lot of new things in the story.
It is a fantastic book for people who like fantasy.
"The Maze Runner" is the first part of a trilogy.
